Shopping for linens
7:16 PM
My lovely friend Lisa is getting married in September, so like any good bride and matron of honor, we've dedicated a small portion of our lives to swooning over gorgeous things on Pinterest. We have a whole board devoted to details, and lately sparkly tablecloths have been dominating, even though we both know in our heart of hearts that we would have to come close to cashing in the US treasury to be able to afford something similar...

After much online searching for budget-friendly options, Lisa made the decision to move on and try to find something else.
This something-elseing led us to L'Nique in Cleveland, a business specializing in linens with a large array of other wedding related items. The GPS had a mind of its own, so we ended up taking a little detour through Sagamore Hills, but we eventually made our way to the office, where we were warmly greeted by Kelly, who was absolutely wonderful.
First, let's talk about HOW AMAZING L'Nique is. They have a beautiful selection of tablecloths, sashes, runners and overlays in almost every color/pattern/texture you could imagine. Plus, they are so helpful. Kelly was so patient with us and picked up on what Lisa was looking for right away so that we didn't waste a lot of time. I really can't express enough how fun it is to choose your linens in person with a professional. If you have the time and want to rent something special for your tables, you should really make an appointment. Websites just don't do patterns and colors justice.
For a wedding or event, special linens can add that bit of spunk or drama that plain 'ol white tablecloths just can't provide. We had so much fun browsing the lovely selection, and ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the choices....and even though we didn't find those ever-lovely shimmer tablecloths, we did play around with some beautiful options, and actually fell in love with silver. This is another reason why going to see linens in person is important, you never know what you'll like until you're staring it in the face!!
There are also a lot of options for mixing and matching with different elements
You can add pops of color with napkins and a pretty charger. When your table is full with 8-10 placings, centerpiece, name cards and favors, you'll hardly notice the white cloth.

Instead of full tablecloths, or even overlays, which can be expensive, use runners with a combination of chargers and napkins. They add drama to a table without being overwhelming.

Or, if you don't want to spend the money at all, and your venue has nice tables, you could be brave and stick to the au natural look of wood.

Whatever you decide, make it your own and it will be beautiful. And if you're in Cleveland, go to L'Nique. They are awesome, and even if you decide not to rent linens after all, you'll be glad you got great input from some fantastic people!
