Real Wedding: Brooke and Mate
6:49 AMI'm so excited to share the details of this beautiful wedding. Brooke has been one of my dear friends for years now, and her family is famous for their decorating and knack for throwing awesome parties (Mystery Dinners, beautiful showers, awesome firework filled Fourth of Julys- this family is pretty amazing). So, when Brooke announced her engagement, I was so excited to see what they would plan.
A little about Brooke and Mate- Brooke went away to Philadelphia for an internship at Rock Ministries and met Mate. To make a long (beautiful) story short, Brooke wasn't looking for a husband, but God put Mate in her path and the rest is history. I knew something was going on when I visited Brooke late summer and also met Mate. Mate had been taking pictures with my camera, and when I got home, I thought it was funny that there were so many of Brooke. Oh, young love :)
Brooke and Mate decided to get married here in Ohio, but needed to find a unique venue since they had a lot of out of town guests coming in (friends from Philadelphia and Mate's family from Hungary) and they didn't want to have to make everyone have the expense of traveling AND staying in a hotel.
Their wedding was held at Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp in Perrysville, Ohio. The wedding was planned to be outside, but that pesky Ohio weather changed things at the last minute. Thankfully, the grounds have a BEAUTIFUL lodge where the ceremony, dinner and dancing were held. The venue was also unique because guests were able to camp either in yurts or cabins, making the wedding a weekend long event.
There were so many DIY and budget details in this wedding: Brooke's mom sewed the tablecloths, the centerpieces were homemade, the flowers were hand tied, Brooke's dad made the flower arch, the food was prepped by family and friends, Brooke's dress was vintage, etc.
Here are the pictures. You will see how beautiful the details were, but more importantly, how HAPPY and in love Brooke and Mate are. Congratulations to the beautiful couple :)
